If you find yourself in the desert during summer months and want to spend some time outside without over-heating too much, consider a ride up the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway to cooler temperatures. The views of the Mojave Desert are spectacular and it’s fascinating to watch the natural life zones as you ascend two and a half miles to nearly the top of the 10,834 foot high Mount San Jacinto, a designated wilderness area. Once at the top, there is a Visitor’s Center, restaurant, restroom, and gift shop. Outside the buildings are 54 miles of hiking trails. Rangers offer free nature walks in the area. Wilderness permits are required for hiking in the Wilderness area and camping in the campgrounds. Tickets to ride the Aerial Tramway can be purchased onsite. I think they are around $30.00 round trip, but check for current prices. Here is the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway website: Tram Click here to view the TramCam. TramCam
